FAQ

We believe understanding builds trust. Find answers to common questions about safety, facilitation, preparation, and integration—so you can move forward with confidence and clarity.

  • We typically use a dose between 25–35 mg of psilocybin (equivalent to about 4–6 grams of dried mushrooms). This range is based on clinical research studies and is adjusted according to individual factors such as your previous experience with psilocybin, current medications, and personal intentions. Dosage is always discussed with your facilitator during your private preparation session to ensure safety and alignment with your goals.

  • All psilocybin used in our retreats is cultivated by state-licensed manufacturers and tested by a state-licensed laboratory for purity and
potency. This means we know exactly how much active ingredient is in your dose, providing both safety and consistency for your
    experience.

  • You may choose the form that feels most comfortable to you:

    • Eating the mushrooms directly

    • Drinking them as a warm, soothing tea made from ground mushrooms

Your facilitator will discuss these options with you during your preparation session.

  • Each participant has a comfortable mat to rest on and is offered an eye mask to encourage inward focus. We recommend dressing in layers (front-zip sweaters are easier than pullovers), bringing a water bottle, and a meaningful photo or small object for our shared sacred space.

Facilitators remain present with you throughout the entire experience, offering support as needed while honoring a non-directive approach. Music, carefully curated to enhance the journey, is played over speakers. Participants are encouraged to focus inward and refrain from interacting with others during the session, allowing each person to have their own deeply personal journey within the shared space.

  • Psilocybin experiences often unfold like a voyage into the self—moving through layers of thought, memory, and feeling. The term “journey” reflects the sacred, unfolding, and transformative nature of the process, rather than a “trip,” which can suggest something
    recreational or fleeting.

  • Research and personal accounts suggest psilocybin may support:

    • Emotional healing and trauma release

    • Reduction of anxiety and depression symptoms

    • New perspectives during life transitions

    • A deepened sense of spiritual connection and meaning

    • Increased creativity, openness, and compassion

See more on our Benefits page.

  • In a carefully guided and legal setting such as this retreat, psilocybin has a strong safety profile. Each participant is screened for medical and psychological contraindications to ensure safety. Facilitators are present throughout the experience to provide grounding support if needed.

  • The effects typically last 5-7 hours, with the most intense experiences in the first half of that time. Integration and reflection follow the active portion of the session.

  • Yes. Psilocybin is not recommended for individuals with certain medical or psychiatric conditions (such as a personal or family history
of psychosis), or for those taking specific medications that may interact. All participants are thoroughly screened in advance to ensure
    safety.

  • Sometimes psilocybin brings forward strong emotions—grief, fear, or anger. While these moments can feel uncomfortable, research shows they are rarely harmful. In fact, most people who face challenges during a journey later describe them as deeply meaningful or beneficial, with only a very small percentage reporting lasting negative effects.

When it comes to psychedelics, set and setting are everything. That’s why we place so much care into both. The physical environment at our licensed service center is designed for safety and comfort, while the preparatory activities you’ll receive before your retreat help put you in the right mindset for the experience. Together, these elements create a container that greatly reduces the chance of overwhelming experiences.

If challenging emotions do arise, you will not go through them alone. Our facilitators remain with you at all times, offering grounding and reassurance while allowing your process to unfold naturally. And our support continues afterward through integration circles,
optional one-on-one time, and follow-up Zoom gatherings—ensuring that every part of your experience is held with care.

At Drop Thesis, we don’t view difficult moments as “bad trips.” We see them as opportunities for release, insight, and transformation —essential steps on the path to healing.

  • Yes. This retreat is conducted in full compliance with Oregon’s Measure 109, which established a legal, regulated psilocybin services
program. All facilitators are state-licensed, and all sessions take place in licensed service centers.
